SUPER TROOPERS
At our recent Active Schools Committee meeting we decided to introduce Super Troopers to St Clares. The committee has been busy distributing information to class teachers which includes teacher's guides, childrens journals and family wall charts.
We are starting Super Troopers this Monday 21/11/16
Super Troopers is aimed at helping children become more active and learn about healthy lifestyles.
Did you know that only one in five children currently meet the World Health Organisation (WHO) recommended daily guidelines of 60 minutes of activity per day?
All children will receive a Super Trooper’s Activity Journal on Monday which includes short activities to do each night as part of their homework. Children can complete these fun activities alone or get their family & friends involved.
So come on everyone let's get moving!

ACTIVE TEACHERS
The teachers in St Clare's have been busy working towards renewing our Active Schools flag.
We have completed Zoom Boom's PE on a Plate Programme for Teachers
As we deliver this six week programme to our classes, our pupils will have fun playing lots of games while improving key skills, coordination, core strength, balance, flexibility muscle tone and general fitness. The activities have been developed by an occupational therapist and child development expert with specific focus on activities for children with Dyspraxia or other motor development delays.

Basketball Blitz September 2016
Well done to the sixth class girls who took part in the Basketball Blitz in the Army Barracks.
They played really well and learned a lot from playing such competitive games.
We are looking forward to training hard for the return blitz next March and giving it another great effort.
LET'S GET ACTIVE!
Welcome back everyone!
We all know how important it is to be active.
Please make a big effort this year to join some of our lunchtime and after school activities or simply just increase your activity time at school and at home!
Let's make this year our most active year ever!

Sportathon
We had two fantastic days at the Sportathon and got to experience circuit activities, yoga, skipping, athletics, Irish dancing, gymnastics, cooperative games, orienteering and ball handling skills! All in one day! Phew! We really deserved our free ice cream at the end of the day!
Thanks to all parents for your help with the sponsorship cards, it is really appreciated!
Here are some photos of the stations we took part in on Friday.
Mrs. Reilly explaining the orienteering to the girls!
