Our senior classes have been taking part in the 60 minute challenge over the past year. WHO recommend that children should exercise at least 60 minutes per day. Active children focus and learn better, present fewer discipline problems achieve higher test results and enjoy school more. All children in St Clare's are encouraged to exercise as much as possible We love our PE lessons, especially when we are doing circuits!

What is it?
Run for Fun has been set up by the Active Schools Committee to motivate children to be more active in St Clare’s. It involves all children having 5-10 minutes extra playtime to walk, skip, jog or run laps of the yard.
How does it work?
Teachers have selected one break or lunchtime slot for their class every two weeks. On that day, the class can go out before or after their break to exercise for 5-10 minutes. Run for Fun can be a teacher led activity or pupils can be assigned to set sensible running, jogging and walking paces. Children can count their laps and track progress over time.

Fit4Class is Athletics Ireland’s new 10 week programme that introduces primary school children from junior infants to fourth class to athletics in a fun, engaging and non-competitive environment. It focuses on the use of games to develop fitness whilst enhancing agility, balance and co-ordination, all fundamental to longer term physical athletic development. Fit4Class rewards students for participating and having fun.

Irish Dancing
Ms Costello showed us Irish dancing. We did a fun dance.
We split up into 5 groups of 4 and you always put your right foot first when-ever you are dancing
The dance was called Walls of Limerick. We all loved it.
We all did this before in fourth class and some of us went to Irish camp and did the dance. Irish dancing is great everyone should try it. We did stage 1 to stage 4. If we got a chance again we’d say all of us would do it.
